VibroGym Vertical Whole Body Vibration
*** Please Note: ***
Before March 2004, the VibroGym was formally referred to in research as Powerplate. Research before this time mentioning Powerplate has been actually performed on the VibroGym platform. The product now marketed as Powerplate is a different product and no longer features the high quality Dutch engineering and construction of the VibroGym.
The Leader In Whole Body Vibration
VibroGym was released in Europe in 1999 and has lead the way in developing whole body vibration as a tool for rehab, strength building and sports performance improvement.
VibroGym works by rapidly vibrating up and down to create extra g-forces on the body. The vibrations also create a reflex contraction of the muscles that produces higher levels of muscle activation than can be achieved in normal exercise.
Key Findings and Registration as a Medical Device
VibroGym is now registered as medical device in Australia with ARTG (Australia Register of Therapeutic Goods) number 145791. There are a number of key benefits that are applicable to medical and rehab professionals. Research findings include:
- Equivalent strength gains to conventional training and enhanced muscle power with less training time
- Increases in flexibility over stretching alone when vertical whole body vibration is combined with PNF stretching
- Decreased delayed onset muscle soreness
- Increased bone mass density in post-menopausal and falls prevention
- Improved mobility in elderly
- Whole body vibration training improved proprioception and balance to a greater extent than coventional training in ACL
reconstructed athletes.

Exercises That Can Be Performed On The Platform
VibroGym WBV only takes up only a small amount of space yet almost any body part can be targeted on the machine by standing, sitting, kneeling, lying, placing your hands on it, as well as an array of muscle relaxation, massage and circulation building functions.
